The District is preparing a FEMA-mandated Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) which will be available for input by the public in the near future. The HMP provides guidance on mitigating against hazards which for us include earthquakes, wildfire, flooding, drought, climate change and terrorism. Disasters can result in loss of life, property and infrastructure. In order to prevent or lessen the loss caused by disasters, the HMP helps communities by assessing vulnerabilities and identifying actions to reduce those risks.
