CVWD Earth Day Provides Smart Ways to Conserve

1,800 Attendees Enjoy Green-minded Fun & Education

On Saturday, April 6th, over 1,800 community members attended the region’s largest Earth Day & Open House at the Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD). The event offered attendees a wide span of resources and engaging activities, including over 40 vendors and booths, from solar panel companies to community groups to kids’ activities. Event highlights included landscape workshops, document shredding, eco-entertainment by Queen Green, and dance performances by local dance studio, Studio X. In addition, the master of ceremonies Joel Greene- creator, producer, and host of PBS’s “Curiosity Quest”, was in attendance, as well as the return of electric vehicle test drives.

“We look forward to this event at Cucamonga Valley Water District every year! The event was fantastic, educational, and fun for my whole family!” commented an Earth Day attendee.

The CVWD Open House gave attendees the opportunity to observe the cutting-edge work performed by CVWD staff. CVWD’s Water Utility Department provided a hands-on water distribution display. Other demonstrations included a new water treatment technology, demonstration of wastewater maintenance, emergency preparedness, and much more.

“This year’s Earth Day & Open House was well attended giving the District the opportunity to interact with so many community members,” commented Board Member Randall Reed. “We are excited that people of all ages were able to join us in celebrating Earth Day and had a great time learning more about CVWD and the environment.”

This annual event is offered free to the community through the contributions of event sponsors. The 2019 Earth Day & Open House top sponsors included the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and the Toro Company.
